Saffron and Spice for Cold Parisian Nights

Sunday along the Seine was coooooold. I felt like I was a little demi-boteille of Chablis, Premier Cru, chilling in an ice bath. Wool, cashmere, J.Crew long underwear--not even a sweet someone's kisses--could warm me up. (Okay, the kisses did their fare share...) If only I would have had my pied-a-terre with a big ol' kitchen, I'd have whipped up this Spicy Pumpkin and Split Pea Soup. Delicious--and healthful! A little repast to mitigate the effects of my daily twice daily foie gras consumption.
