Ms. P:

The Gawker article was a nasty piece. Perhaps they should focus on making the world a better place, instead of pointing out the shortcomings of others they feel have missed the mark.

It just seemed unnecessary. I'm utterly confused by the notion of a piece that would serve no other purpose but to stomp on the character of a fellow writer putting her ideas into the blogosphere.

Character would have been criticizing the subject of the blog, not personally attacking the woman who wrote it.

Not nice Gawker. Not nice.

Mr. Flintstone - show us some couth. Please. However, the inner-fraternity boy can't not be curious.

Additionally, I have to agree with BLBC about the tone and tact that Gawker has taken. Perhaps to drum up "eyeballs"? Who knows. In any event, nice job standing tall B.

Now where's that drink dammit?

Hi -- I actually have noticed that since the new eds took over at GAWKER, the tone has gotten really dopey, full of cheap anonymous shots, very seventh grade. And not even funny.

Say what you will about SPY -- and yes, I was at the party and at SPY -- at least we could write a sentence, and create something of value. And went on to produce actual books, magazines, TV shows and movies, that people (lots of them!) paid to read. And in its own small way, the gang at SPY affected American culture (such as it is).

I think if Ms. Parkhurst is guilty of anything, it is youthful enthusiasm (and is that such a bad thing) and, perhaps, the fact that she did not grow up here, go to school here, etc, so she does not know Rule #1 -- don't talk to Ron Perelman! :)

Clearly you're doing something right, or you wouldn't have a book deal. I can't name the editors of Gawker, and half the people they mention are obscure media figures no one actually cares about, but people have actually heard of you, and for those who haven't, the free publicity could actually boost your book sales.

Also, have you noticed that since the new eds took over, they're constantly ripping apart attractive, successful women? It's like Mean Girls: The Blog. But at least Regina George knew she was a bitch.

The bottom line? Screw 'em. You'll always be a published author, whereas they'll always be "internet celebrities" (an oxymoron if I've ever heard one).

And Dear God--criticizing "spelling errors" (read: typos) in an effing BLOG ENTRY? Petty. Get a life, queefs.
