Daniel’s Disciple
I adore the guinea hen stuffed with creamed spinach, carefully wrapped in tin foil. I love the little cups of chocolate souffle that rest on the top refrigerator shelf. I hate his hours.
(Chef’s whites and clogs tucked away in his bag, Jamie leaves for his first fourteen-hour day at “Daniel”)

10:30?! Seems a tad early.
Thank the kitchen gods it’s that and not the 11:00 – 1:30/2a shift.

I think there was a Sex in the City episode where Miranda has to work out her conflicting work scheudle with that of bartender Bradys. Solution: Morning sex.

My boyfriend was a sous chef at a top restaurant here in NYC and I totally feel your pain about your guy’s hours. Living with a cook/chef is hard, but worth it for all the great dinners and hospitable chef friends! I can’t wait for my guy to get back from cooking abroad.

I once dated a chef and felt the same way… On the bright side, it leaves more time for the girls…. and makes you appreciate the time you do have together. On the dimly lit side, if memory serves me correctly, often he wants to sleep in his spare time.
