Belle: Elegant as usual. I used to wear my hair in a french twist - similar to yours - and it always made me feel more tres chic!

  3. 3 Broady Says:

Love the hair. Did you do it yourself for this photo? And is this photo for press, it is beautiful, if it was taken by a friend they did a great job.

    The dress– Versace?

  4. 4 Sarah Says:

    Hi Belle,

I do enjoy your writing style and you also appear elegant in visage. But… for someone so young ( as I speak from my lofty perch of 32 years of age) you seem too try to hard to seem older. You should be enjoying your youth and living it up in NYC — not taking everything and yourself so seriously. At times, I am sorry to say, you come off a bit pretentious. Remember not to condescend to or patronize your readers. Many of us too have lived abroad, speak other languages, know how to cook, and have lived in, loved in and navigated big cities. That is all for now. I look forward to your next posts.

    The cleavage … oh my.

Seems that this country girl has no problem fitting into high society in NYC>

  6. 6 Rachel Says:

It’s so classy - I love it! Where are you?

  7. 7 Hattigrace Says:

You are beautiful. Do run and laugh and play some. Life gets only more and more serious and sometimes sad. Our greatest worth is not our knowledge, expertise, acquisions, beauty nor wealth, but in our love of God and love of family and friends. All the rest is dust in the wind. . .

  8. 8 Belle Says:

i have good posture therefore i’m uptight, pretentious? quite judgemental from your anonymous posts, “commentary” and “sarah.” this is exactly who i am–take me or leave me.

or, as i always say, get your own blog.

  9. 9 Sarah Says:

The photo is stunning. I have been wondering, though… How do you get all these shots– especially the action shots on the street?

  10. 10 funnierandfunnier Says:

Do you get off to pictures of yourself, belle? Because it really is beginning to look like it. You and stretch td are made of the same stuff, you know.
Plus, the defensive tone is very entertaining. Keep it up.

And isn’t it about time you admitted that you’re not 25 anymore?

I used to like your blog. Now I come here for laughs.

  11. 11 Belle Says:

yes, for the record i am 26. and?

  12. 12 Jake Says:

    Belle-

The naysayers obviously have never had the opportunity to pay a visit to the Deep South, and thus have not afforded themselves the exquisite privilege of being in the presence of our most cherished, and guarded secret…

The classic and refined beauty of a true Southern Belle.

Or it could just be a simpleton’s jealousy. But what do I know? I’m just a primate. And a soldier.

    Belle:

Sometimes you have to wonder where someone left their manners. You look great and elegant and I don’t think you’re either pretentious or uptight. You’re young and you have the right to invent yourself - over and over. You’ve found a personal style and that’s great. You have the savoir-faire of Grace Kelly without the frostiness.

I love this blog and the one you have with Jamie. I think both are a lot of fun. Everyone else needs to lighten up. And if someone doesn’t enjoy this blog - go somewhere else.

  15. 15 Coquette Says:

    You are gorgeous, girl!

Maybe your elegance and class will rub off on some of the rude commentators on your blog!

  16. 16 Angelina Says:

I love reading your blog. It’s fun to read about your adventures. I also read your blog with Jamie and I enjoy it just as much. I personally like to see the pictures. It’s nice to have a face with the writings.

Keep up the great blog and don’t let the negative comments bother you.

  17. 17 Jennifer Says:

Love the photograph. Love the dress. Love that sipping wine is your preferred state of rest!

Feeling compelled to quote my mother and say…”they’re just jealous!”

  18. 18 Ryane Says:

I love it: how better to rest than with a gorgeous glass of wine, in an even more gorgeous dress?

  19. 19 Sarah Says:

    Hi Belle,

Sarah here again (the first one)…
I don’t think you come off as uptight and I appreciate your writings as I too was once a girl in her 20s making her way in the Big Apple and abroad in Europe. I do in fact have my own blog, but keep it for friends and family only — it’s not for public consumption as I prefer to keep my life and travels private. Besides, I am certain my writing is not as eloquent as yours. My point was that sometimes your tone or writing style can come off as a bit condescending and that sometimes you don’t seem to enjoy your youth very much. You are a beautiful and intelligent young woman living in a truly grand city. Live it up and don’t be afraid to just be 26 (you’ll be happy you did once your 20s have come and gone).

  20. 20 In Penury Parvenu Says:

    Très sophistiqué.

I do wonder, were the deletions salacious? The Internet attracts such undesirables. Present commenter aside of course!

  21. 21 Belle Says:

“in penury parvenu”–i didn’t delete the entries, their author did. i suppose after i had read their insults, they decided to take them down.

and i can’t seem to get on your blog… problems with the server? i’d love to read your musings.

  22. 22 Hattigrace Says:

Yeeeeesh, a beautiful photo seems to invoke a lot of responses. What, a picture is worth a thousand words? Thanks for your visits. You are a jewel, bright and shining.

  23. 23 B.A. Says:

What a pretty and poised picture. Your family would be proud. I was born in the midwest (it’s not just a southern thing) and started going to resturants with my parents at 3 years old. I had to sit straight and use my utensils correctly at a young age. Be a clown at home but represent the family outside of the home. My mom said it’s beauty and dignity. You show that in this photo.

  24. 24 stretch td Says:

    Action … over-reaction?

    Calm down, folks.

And honey, its called a publicist. Belle is having her coming out party. ;)

  25. 25 jase Says:

Oh my gawwwd! You’re a vision of class perfection!!! Reminiscent of Charlize Theron and Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct!

Your pose speaks about a woman about to conquer the world!!! Bravo!

  26. 26 Lyly June Says:

    Hi Belle,
I am French and I read your blog for about one year. I like your writing style and with you my english is better everyday! But i have noticed some changes. Now people know your pretty face and I have the feeling you are more sure of yourself (maybe too?). I understand what Sarah means but I don’t totally agree with her. She is very rude.
You are very pretty and élégante. But I am waiting for a photo where your hair will be free and not in a french twist (I didn’t know this expression in english I read it in catalicious’ comment). Congratulations to your personnal paparazzi who follows you everywhere. The photos are beautiful. (sorry if I made mistakes!)

  27. 27 Amy Says:

You look stunning in this picture, you should use it on that new webpage. No offense to the other picture, but this one is much classier.

where did that website go anyway? can’t get to it.

  28. 28 Okie Says:

    Hubba, hubba.

  29. 29 randomthoughts Says:

HI Belle, you look lovely. Like Grace Kelly, refined and sure of her beauty and of herself. I havent read much of your blog, but I will keep an eye out now. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  30. 30 ohlordymy Says:

Grace Kelly? You need a new pair of glasses….

Sure, it’s a nice picture indeed but you look as relaxed as a turkey being stunned before slaughter.

Relax more. I suggest drinking from the bottle itself.

  31. 31 the addict Says:

Belle, from one mid-20s NYC blogger to another, you look gorgeous, radiant, and at ease.

For those who insist Belle isn’t enjoying her youth: What is it that she’s supposed to be doing? Drinking white zin out of a box - or cheap champagne straight from the bottle - dancing on banquettes, slumping over, giving the camera the finger?

A lady may fully enjoy her 20s without acting like Paris Hilton, which Belle so elegantly demonstrates through this photo and the blog.

The dress/top is to die for, by the way.

  32. 32 Temp Whore Says:

    I love that dress

  33. 33 Donna Says:

Gorgeous elegant photo! I love femininity and appreciate a woman who keeps the feminine allure fully alive.
