I like your blog, assuming you are who you say you are. Apart from that, we have nothing in common except that we have the same blog background. Nice, isn’t it. (www. politics-explained.blogspot.com)
Thanks for the heads up Stretch. I hate to say it, but I didn’t place the Fitzgerald reference until your clue prompted me to look it up (and I am an Americanist…sheesh). Been a long time, but I still remember the spectacles. NOw I have to go reread Gatsby. And, by the way, this is the second time today that a Gatsby image has come up, the first being that green light.
In me, Belle’s post conjured the geishas featured in Ridley Scott’s Bladerunner (which, I think, is far superior to the Phillip K. Dick original novel).
I think you want to write . . . and if you have your face plastered all over the side of a building it’ll be quite easy to spend your free time writing whatever the hell you want and , at the same time, getting book deals out of it.
Feel free to point and laugh at me. I love The Great Gatsby, but I missed the reference too. Was merely going to comment that you sounded like an early 20th century American writer.
I had a chance to re-read Gatsy last year when the NY Times serialized it. It may be my all-time favorite book. Even better the 2nd time around. Even better after having lived in NYC all these years. It has not changed all that much.

Hope to see you there soon. Actually, hope to see your pic on here soon. Promises … promises.
Can never read the Great Gatsby too many times.

“emotional wasteland” is the most true characterization I have seen regarding NYC…

How the hell do you get people to respond to your blog? I have to respond to my own because nobody gives a rats behind about mine apparently.

Sometimes all you have to know is what you don’t want.

Very gutsy of you to critique me ANONYMOUSLY. Stop visiting my site if the writing is so horrendous.

Very non gutsy of you to delete my comments without allowing others to read them.
If you want to write about living in NYC, then really WRITE about it.
What are you hiding from?

Wow. You really DID delete my comment.
Huh. I was right.
But I guess I was expecting more than a weak little delete. Like a sensible response. A thank you.
Well how ’bout that?

I took your critique, ms. “grudge.” thank you.
Your words were intended for me and not for everyone else, right? So, why would you mind if i saved it in my files and subsequently deleted it?
Is it attention that you want? Fine. Start your own blog.

Hee. I actually do have a blog, which you’ll see if you click on my name.
But no, that’s not what I was after.
I can tell you’re a writer, and I thought that you needed to hear something helpful, beyond just praise.
I’m also a teacher, and when I see places where I can help, I try to.
That’s simply it.
You really do have my best wishes. Today’s entry felt truer, by the way. So good for you.

Sorry, “grudge.” Some people that come to this site aren’t as well-intentioned as you.
Thanks for the advice. Truly.

Awww… you’re welcome!
Please feel free to delete my comments. I totally don’t want to blow your cover, or anything.
And congratulations on being selected as a Blog of Note on the dashboard!

I don’t know where the Gatsby allusions come from, but I can comment on glossy lipstick, which is a bad thing and the bane of broadcast journalism.
