Hi, just passing through today but would like to echo the praises of everyone here.
The lesson, as once said, is that “to give light, one must endure burning.” The light in your soul is waiting to shine, and reading your thoughts, your journey may be just as important as your destination.
Anthony de Mello in “Song of the Bird” writes that a man once wished to change the world, and then to change others he loved, and only to find in the end that the hardest thing to do is to change oneself.
I’m rambling. The world will go on and the human state of poverty and misery will probably remain the same when we die as when we get here. So trust that your compass will lead you where you will go, and that the journey will make you all the better for it.

Stay away from that stuff, it just drags you and your loved ones down. Rely on coffee, tea, and high sugar twinkies…trust me, I’ve seen it destroy lives! Have you found a place for good sweet tea up there yet? Bet not…

)) How ’bout a book, an inside peak, at the world of propaganda that we call television news? (Ratings and showbiz are everything, actual reporting is nothing.)And “conservative thinking” that’s an oxymoron if I ever heard one.

To stay awake at work, you should drink one of those 32oz. Mountain Dew’s. If that doesn’t work, drink two Red Bulls. If that doesn’t work, find some Ritalin and crush it up and snort it. If that doesn’t work, you should try some cocaine. Oh…wait…yeah.

I love your writing. From one angsty media lady in a Big Smoke to another in the Big Apple, salutations. (Are you happy for me to link to you?)
I’ve had some lovely Americans dropping into my London blog, which I started after 7/7/05 when my underground train exploded coming out of Kings Cross. I’ve felt very close to New York since, thouigh I have yet to visit London’s American twin.
You write beautifully and it is a pleasure to have a glimpse into your frankly bonkers world.
If you are ever in London, and want to bitch about media life over cocktails then do let me know.

“The center of the thinkin’, conservative world—ha! Your mom has a good sense of humor. My mother, back in my Midwestern hometown, considers herself a conservative Republican and I consider her a thinker, and she has no truck with Fox News. She’s more of a Henry Wallace kind of Republican though sort of socially conservative (but supports rights for gays and the right to an abortion.) What can I say? People are complex.
He’s almost a stereotype, this guy, going through three marriages in nine years. But a high-pressure job in media, working night shifts—yoy. That’s one reason why I don’t like the idea of working in media. I’d like to be published, and I wouldn’t mind doing TV spots as a pundit, but jobs like this, writing copy at two in the morning… I just couldn’t keep myself giving a damn.
Good story, though. Tragically good.

Never been there. ‘Probly neever will. Always wondered how it really is. Reading your posts makes NYC more real for me than any book, movie or conversation has.
